AI Engineer

AI is in everything we build. Navigator, the AI agents inside Journeys and Hire, and work we have not announced yet. Our development team builds with AI every day, and we are adding an engineer whose whole focus is the AI in our products.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You write the code, design the systems, measure the results and ship the features yourself. Your opinions on where our AI goes next carry weight because you are doing the work.

What you will do

• Build and ship AI features across our products, from first design through production, together with the rest of the development team
• Go deep on the models and the tooling around them. Compare new releases against what we ship today, measure quality and cost on real workloads, and switch when the numbers say so
• Make our AI features measurably better over time, and know how often they are right before we call them done
• Keep up with the field so the rest of us do not have to. When something new matters, you bring a working proposal, not a link
• Be the first call for customer success and sales when a customer asks what our AI can do, and turn what you hear into product decisions
• Share what you learn with the rest of the engineering team, so our AI knowledge grows with the team

Who you are

• A programmer at heart. You have built and shipped software people use, and you still write and review code yourself
• You have built on top of LLMs and know where they break in production
• You measure before you believe. An AI feature that looks good in a demo is not done until you know how often it is right
• You think in systems: you can discuss architecture, see the consequences of a design and know when the simple solution is enough
• You use AI daily and have opinions, backed by experience, on where it is strong and where it falls over
• You see AI as a way to do more, not as a threat and not as magic
• You review what AI writes as carefully as what people write
• Someone people enjoy working with, who can explain AI to developers and non-developers alike
• Fluent English

We don't require a set number of years of experience. We care more about how you think and what you've built.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python/Django or React/TypeScript, which is our stack
• Experience with evaluation frameworks for LLM features
• Icelandic

AI in our hiring

We use AI tools to help us review and evaluate applications, for example to summarize and assess CVs, cover letters, application answers, and video interviews. AI assists our team, it does not make hiring decisions on its own: a person always reviews your application and makes the final call. You can opt out of AI-assisted evaluation and it will not count against you.
