

Product Quality Responsible
Benchmark Genetics Iceland is seeking to hire a Product Quality Responsible. The purpose of the role is to ensure the systematic management of product-related deviations arising from internal production, customer feedback, and commercial claims, while securing traceability, technical rigor, and timely resolution.
The Product Quality Responsible is accountable for the operational handling of product quality deviations, root cause analyses, and quality documentation across the entire value chain.
The position operates at the interface between Production, Commercial, Fish Health, and the Quality Department, while maintaining independent reporting lines within the Quality function.
- Deviation Management and Root Cause Analysis.
· Own and manage product-related deviations within the company Quality Management System.
· Lead structured Root Cause Analysis processes using recognized methodologies, e.g. 5-Why, Fishbone, CAPA framework.
· Ensure complete and high-quality documentation of deviations, investigations, corrective and preventive actions.
· Coordinate cross-functional investigations with Production, Fish Health, Water Quality, and Commercial teams.
· Define and follow up implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
· Monitor effectiveness of implemented actions and close cases based on objective evidence.
· Maintain traceability between customer claims, internal findings, and production data.
- Product Quality Documentation.
· Maintain and update product quality documentation, including: Deviation reports, Technical follow-up reports, Customer feedback summaries, KPI documentation, Risk assessments related to product quality.
· Support preparation of technical reports for internal review and customer communication.
· Ensure documentation aligns with internal SOPs, certifications, and company Quality Standards.
· Contribute to continuous improvement of quality documentation templates and reporting standards.
- Cross-Functional Coordination.
· Act as primary Quality contact for product-related deviations.
· Work closely with Commercial team, to ensure robust technical answers to customers. Work closely with Production teams, to review operational protocols, water quality parameters, incubation conditions, and stripping procedures, etc. Work closely with Fish Health, when investigations involve biological or health-related aspects.
· Facilitate data collection prior to deviation review meetings to ensure efficient and evidence-based discussions.
· Support structured internal follow-up meetings on deviation cases.
- Product Performance Monitoring.
· Support analysis of product quality parameters, including but not limited to Fertilization rate, No-hatch percentage, Hatching window, Deformities, Yolk sac quality, Early survival and other performance related metrics.
· Identify trends and recurring patterns in deviation cases.
· Contribute to risk assessments related but not limited to transport, handling, incubation temperature, water quality, and environmental factors.
· Support development of preventive quality measures based on data-driven insights.
- Continuous Improvement.
· Contribute to strengthening the Product Quality framework.
· Participate in development and refinement of KPIs and threshold definitions.
· Support implementation of structured quality tools and documentation improvements.
· Promote a culture of accountability and systematic problem solving across departments.
· Quality Management , MSc or BSc in Aquaculture, Biology, Marine Science, Fish health Science, or related field.
· Additional training in Quality Management systems or Root Cause Analysis methodologies is an advantage.
· Experience in aquaculture production, preferably salmonid broodstock operations.
· Proven experience handling deviations within a Quality Management System.
· Experience implementing CAPA processes.
· Experience working in cross-functional teams.
· Structured and methodical problem solver.
· Strong analytical mindset with critical thinking capabilities.
· High level of responsibility and ownership.
· Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
· Objective and fact-driven approach to investigations.
