Business Development Manager — Iceland

As Business Development Manager for Iceland, you own how 50skills grows in the Icelandic market. This is a revenue-generating role at its core. You will define and run campaigns aimed at our ideal customers, build your own pipeline through inbound and outbound, host events that bring the right people into the room, and carry the full cycle from first conversation to a signed partnership. When a deal closes, you make sure it lands well: a clean handover to customer success, and on some packages, owning the initial implementation yourself so the customer gets value fast. You will carry real revenue targets and you will hit them. Just as important, you will build the playbook for how we win in Iceland, so the next people we bring on can do the same. This is a high-agency role. We expect you to spot the right problem, design a system or an approach for solving it, and execute, without waiting to be told how. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE In your first month, you will: Become a genuine expert across the 50skills products and services: what they do, why customers use them, and the problems we are best in the world at solving Learn from our past wins and losses, so you know what great looks like and what to avoid Meet the wider team and understand how we build the products, onboard customers, and support them from start to finish Map the Icelandic market against our ideal customer profile and draft your first campaign Within 3 months, you will: Run your first campaign end to end Be meeting prospects and customers on a regular cadence Close your first opportunities Within 6 months, you will: Consistently meet and beat your revenue targets Have a repeatable motion: campaigns, events, outbound, demos, proposals, and close Be a known, trusted face in the Icelandic HR and people operations community By 12 months, you will: Be fully up to speed and hitting your on-target performance every quarter Have built the Iceland playbook and started training others to run it Take on broader scope as the market and the team grow WHAT YOU WILL DO Build demand and pipeline Define campaigns tailored to our ideal customers and run them across inbound and outbound Come up with events worth hosting, host them, and run the marketing around them Book your own meetings and keep your pipeline full Win and close new customers Run discovery and demos that show real business value, not feature lists Shape and send proposals, follow up, negotiate, and close partnerships Carry real revenue targets and own your number Make customers successful Work consultatively: understand the customer's real problems and only commit to what we can deliver Bring customers solutions you genuinely believe will work for them, never something you do not believe in Hand every closed deal cleanly to customer success, and where it is part of the package, own the initial implementation so the customer sees value quickly Be the face of 50skills in Iceland Become a figurehead for 50skills in the Icelandic market Be comfortable sharing your work and perspective on your own social channels Represent us at events and in the local HR and operations community Work AI-native and on camera Use AI every day to research accounts, prepare, and move faster Use tools like Loom to record videos for marketing and customer-facing purposes, explaining how our products work, and send them out to customers and prospects WHO YOU ARE IDEALLY You have done this before, carried real targets, and hit them. You know your numbers. You operate with high agency: you find the right problem, design a way to solve it, and get it done You are smart, forward-thinking, and genuinely curious about your customers' problems You embrace AI to simplify your day to day You are comfortable on camera and happy being a public face in the local market You care about customers actually succeeding, not just signing Fluent in Icelandic and English We are open on background. A track record in business development, partnerships, or marketing is the natural fit, but we are equally happy to meet people from HR or people operations who deeply understand how companies run their workflows and want to move into a revenue-generating role. What we care about most are the outcomes you can drive. We want an ambitious partner who believes in our mission an plans to stay with us long-term. LOCATION AND WAYS OF WORKING This role is based in our HQ in Kópavogur. We would love to have you in our office every day and out meeting customers in person. We are open to a remote/hybrid arrangement for the right person, as long as you are fluent in Icelandic and able to travel frequently to the office and to customers. To begin with, around 80% of your work will be business development and marketing for the Icelandic market.
