Store and Information Center Employee

Guide to Iceland is looking for a service-minded and positive employee for its new store and information center on Laugavegur in Reykjavík.

The role includes a variety of tasks related to welcoming tourists, providing information, selling souvenirs, and helping create an enjoyable and educational experience for visitors. The space will also include a small historical exhibition designed to attract people into the store and introduce Iceland in an engaging way.

We are looking for someone who enjoys interacting with people, has a positive attitude, is reliable, and is ready to provide excellent service to guests.

Main Responsibilities

The employee will welcome tourists and other visitors, answer questions, and provide information about travel in Iceland, activities, tours, transportation, weather, safety, and Guide to Iceland’s services.

The role also includes selling souvenirs and other products, assisting customers, handling payments, restocking shelves, and keeping the store clean, attractive, and well organized.

The employee will also introduce guests to the small historical exhibition in the space, help create a positive visitor experience, and encourage guests to learn more about Iceland and the opportunities offered by Guide to Iceland.

Working Hours

This is a shift-based role. Work will take place on weekdays and every other weekend. The successful candidate must therefore be willing to work flexible shifts in a lively customer-service environment.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with a strong service mindset, a positive attitude, and good interpersonal skills. Experience in retail, tourism, information services, or customer-facing work is an advantage but not required.

Good English skills are required, and Icelandic skills are a strong advantage. Additional languages are also an advantage. The successful candidate must be punctual, responsible, professional in appearance and conduct, and willing to learn about tourism in Iceland and Guide to Iceland’s products.
