The role also includes responsibility for purchasing, inventory management, and product presentation. This involves selecting products that fit the Guide to Iceland brand, monitoring sales, stock levels, and margins, and developing the product range with an emphasis on Icelandic design, souvenirs, gift items, and other products that appeal to travelers.
The Information Center Manager will ensure that staff can provide clear, helpful, and high-quality information about travel in Iceland, activities, day tours, safety, weather, transportation, and Guide to Iceland’s services. The person in this role will also help develop the visitor experience connected to the small historical exhibition and use it to attract people into the store and create a positive first impression.
Areas of Responsibility
The role includes responsibility for daily operations, service quality, sales performance, staffing, purchasing, inventory management, and the overall customer experience. The successful candidate will work closely with Guide to Iceland’s management team to build a new and visible brand touchpoint in one of the busiest locations in the country.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with experience in retail operations, customer service, tourism, purchasing, or a similar field. Experience managing staff is important, as is the ability to take responsibility, solve problems quickly, and maintain an overview in a busy environment.
Strong Icelandic and English skills are required, and additional languages are an advantage. The ideal candidate will have a strong service mindset, a positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, and an interest in Iceland, travel, and culture.
We Offer
We offer an exciting opportunity to take part in building a new Guide to Iceland store and information center on Laugavegur. This role is well suited to someone who wants to make an impact, help build a new project from the ground up, and work in a lively international environment where no two days are the same.
