Operations (Shift Supervisor) at Hidden Iceland

Hidden Iceland is looking for a positive and hard-working individual to join our Operations team as a Shift Supervisor. The candidate must have strong customer service skills, have extensive experience with Icelandic tourism, strong organisational skills, structured work methods and solution-oriented thinking. Special emphasis is placed on experience in serving premium and luxury customers, both for private guided tours and self-drive tours.

The position available for application is a full-time position based on location at Hidden Iceland's office, Fiskislóð 18, in Reykjavík.

Hidden Iceland was founded in 2017 and specialises in tailor-made package tours in Iceland. The company employs over 40 people, including travel consultants and guides.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations to ensure that all tours run efficiently and safely within the bounds of the companies policies and safety plans.
  • Communicate with and assist clients, partners and stakeholders in connection with daily operations.
  • Email inbox management, daily task allocation, preparing equipment for upcoming tours and other incidental work.
  • Telephone answering and email communication.
  • Monitor weather and road conditions and manage their potential impacts on Hidden Iceland tours.
  • Ensure the inbox and client management is done to maximise the sales that can be made from enquiries. That may be through actively engaging with new enquiries to ensure a seamless sales process for the Sales team.
Educational and skill requirements
  • Experience in Tourism, with a role in Operations or Guiding, is a requirement.
  • Extensive knowledge of Iceland as a tourist destination is a requirement.
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends in a shift pattern is a requirement.
  • Experience in luxury travel is an advantage.
  • Minimum basic proficiency in Icelandic is an advantage.
  • Very good command of spoken and written English.
  • Good general computer skills and experience in major booking systems such as Bókun and Travia are an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills, structured work methods and solution-oriented thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
