Maintenance Mechanic Seafood Processing Plant

S. Iceland ehf is looking for a practical, well-organized maintenance mechanic to support the machinery and equipment at our seafood-processing plant in Garður.
We welcome candidates with experience as industrial mechanics, maintenance technicians, automotive mechanics, marine mechanics, agricultural-equipment mechanics, or similar hands-on technical roles. Direct seafood-industry experience is an advantage but is not essential for a candidate with strong practical mechanical skills and the ability to learn factory equipment.

Helstu verkefni og ábyrgð

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in production and packaging equipment.
• Respond efficiently to breakdowns and restore equipment to safe operation.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts.
• Work with production and packing machinery, conveyors, pallet-wrapping equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and other factory systems.
• Perform practical welding and metal-fabrication work when required and within the candidate’s competence.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, sensor, and electrical-control issues, coordinating qualified specialists when necessary.
• Keep tools, spare parts, maintenance records, and unfinished repair tasks organized.
• Follow repairs through to completion and communicate equipment status clearly to the production team.
• Work according to factory safety, food-hygiene, and quality requirements.

• Can prioritize urgent breakdowns while also maintaining a preventive-maintenance plan.
• Communicates well and cooperates effectively with production employees and external service technicians.
• Is comfortable working in an active seafood-processing environment.

• Mechanical trade qualification or relevant technical education.
• Industrial, food-production, seafood, automotive, marine, or agricultural-machinery experience.
• Welding and metal-fabrication skills.
• Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, sensors, or basic industrial electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience managing spare parts and maintenance documentation.
