General Manager

Spes Seafood ehf. is looking for an experienced and hands-on General Manager to lead and further develop our operations in Sandgerði.

As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall daily management of the company, including operations, administration, logistics, quality management, financial oversight, and team coordination. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth cooperation between departments, maintaining strong operational control, and driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

The role combines operational oversight with financial administration, cost monitoring, reporting, people management, and strategic coordination with our parent company in the Netherlands. You will work closely with local employees, suppliers, logistics partners, and external stakeholders in a dynamic and fast-moving seafood environment.

We are looking for a proactive and responsible leader who enjoys working independently, takes ownership, and is comfortable managing a broad range of operational and administrative activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the daily operations of Spes Seafood ehf.
  • Managing and coordinating administration, logistics, quality, and operational activities
  • Monitoring financial administration, invoice control, cost levels, and reporting
  • Overseeing export documentation and communication with logistics partners
  • Managing, supporting, and structuring the local team
  • Ensuring accurate and reliable ERP data and operational processes
  • Driving continuous improvements and process optimization initiatives
  • Acting as the main point of contact between Iceland and the parent company in the Netherlands
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers, transport companies, service providers, and authorities
  • Monitoring operational and financial performance through regular reporting
Educational and skill requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a management or operational leadership role
  • Experience within the seafood, food production, logistics, or related industry is considered an advantage
  • Strong understanding of administrative, financial, and operational processes
  • Experience with financial administration, reporting, and cost control
  • Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • Speaking Icelandic is considered a major advantage
  • Able to work independently in a dynamic and hands-on environment
