Scientist, Drug Product Development
Overview of Role
We are looking for capable and motivated formulation scientist to join the Drug Product Development team at Alvotech, Reykjavik. In this position, you will be a part of a team working on the development of liquid/lyophilized biologics (biosimilar) drug products. This role is an excellent opportunity for both recent graduates and experienced scientists who are eager to build or expand their expertise in biopharmaceutical development.
Scope and responsibility
-
Perform activities related to the development of liquid/lyophilized formulations (early- and late-stage development), selection of excipient raw materials and formulation characterization to ensure that a sufficiently robust formulation has been developed.
-
Design, perform, and report formulation screening experiments, stability studies, biophysical characterization and other studies leading to the development of stable formulations according to Quality by Design (QbD) principles and internal policies.
-
Work closely with the Process Development and Material Science teams within Drug Product Development to ensure compatibility of the formulations with the manufacturing process (including lyophilization) and container closure systems.
In this role you will gain experience in formulation development of biologics, including:
-
Understanding and optimizing protein stability and intermolecular interactions
-
Evaluating critical quality attributes (CQAs) such as aggregation, degradation, and physicochemical stability
-
Studying how proteins behave under stress conditions (e.g. temperature, agitation, pH)
-
Designing and analyzing experiments using Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical tools
-
Interpreting degradation pathways and stability profiles to design robust formulations.
Job requirements
We are looking for flexible, open-minded and motivated scientists that are excited about biopharmaceutical development, can challenge their work by innovative and creative solutions, and share our values of team spirit and team efforts. The specific requirements for the role are detailed below.
-
