People Specialist, Iceland

The role of the People Specialist, Iceland is to be responsible for all People related matters in Iceland, implementing, advising and assisting Benchmark´s managers on recruitment, performance management, talent management, employee relations, diversitiy and inclution, remuneration, and other People matters as required.

The People Specialist, Iceland reports to Global People Director and will be part of, and working closely with, the Global People Team and will partake in making Benchmark the best place to work in the aquaculture industry.

Helstu verkefni og ábyrgð

Provide advice and assistance to all line managers in Benchmark Iceland on a range of People related matters to ensure they are dealt with effectively, fairly and in line with Benchmark’s values and approach to people
Work with the Global People Team to champion Benchmark’s values and culture and to engage in local acitivities, e.g. team buiding, management training and development, to reinforce these across the team
Work with the Global People Team to deliver all aspects of the global People Strategy
Responsible for the consistent application of Benchmark policies across Benchmark Iceland
Ensure processes and procedures are kept up to date and are implemented to a consistent high standard
Manage the employee joining and leaving processes, including recruitment and selection, offers and contracts, induction and exits for Benchmark Iceland employees
Implement the annual salary review and bonus processes in Iceland and support Benchmark Genetics globally
Manage training and development activities across the employee base, including talent management and succession planning activities in line with global and local policies and procedures
Responsible for all People related administrating work, data management and reporting
Ensuring legal compliance, making sure that the company remains compliant with current employment law, policies and regulations
Take initiative and be proactive in finding opportunities for improvements
Analyze workforce data to present insights to managers, informing team strategy and tracking people-related metrics
Any other duties as required

Menntunar- og hæfniskröfur

Strong HR generalist experience, preferably within an international business
Experience of working across a multi-site operation
A university degree in HR or a relevant field is preferred
A clear understanding of Icelandic employment law and business practices
General IT competence and confident in use of MS Office
Ambitious self-starter comfortable with working remotely and with colleagues in a variety of international locations
Able to work as part of a geographically dispersed team
Self-motivated and autonomous with effective time management and prioritisation skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Flexible and able to travel nationally and occasionally internationally as required
Ability to build and develop relationships at all levels
